Construction is expected to begin in May of 2023 and complete in August of 2024. 2020 Bond to fund $598 million of work over 30 years JEFFERSON LIGHTHOUSE ELEMENTARY Becomes Racine Alternative Learning The referendum would relocate Elementary students to Starbuck’s K-8 campus and provide the funds to update Jefferson Lighthouse for Racine Alternative Learning use: SAFETY & SECURITY: • Replace fire alarm, clock and UPS systems • Update for ADA-compliant access (includes adding an elevator) • Install security cameras and emergency backup generator BUILDING REMODELS & ADDITIONS: • Construct new east entrance • Create Flex STEAM Lab • Add classroom above library • Replace 1899 building with green space and basketball courts • Renovate existing gym to open cafeteria and expand kitchen INFRASTRUCTURE: • Refresh building interiors (LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, casework, paint walls) • Address building maintenance (doors, roofing, HVAC updates, exterior masonry and concrete, retro-commissioning) • Expand parking The bond was passed and approved by the voters on April 7, 2020. NOTE: Jefferson Lighthouse and West Ridge will merge with Starbuck when it becomes a K-8 IB school in fall 2025.
