Renovation of an educational facility in Richmond, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Sealed bids, in duplicate, are invited for the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building; Mezzanine Level Alterations; Project Code No: 236-A9236-016, located at 1217 East Marshall Street, MCV Campus, Richmond, Virginia. The project is generally described as an open office alteration project covering 2,744 total square feet, located on the Mezzanine floor of the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building. The project scope includes demolition of an existing open office, and the construction of a new open office with one hard-wall office and one hard-wall conference room. There is also Break Room casework and associated plumbing. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire sprinkler and fire alarm work is part of this project scope. Demountable wall partitions and systems office furniture will be owner installed and General Contractor coordinated. A Bid Bond is required if Bid is over $500,000. Procedures for submitting a bid, claiming an error, withdrawal of bids and other pertinent information are contained in the Instructions to Bidders, which is part of the Invitation for Bids. Withdrawal due to error in bid shall be permitted in accord with Section 4, Item I, No. 3 of the Commonwealth of Virginia Purchasing Manual for Institutions for Higher Education and their Vendors. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Questions must only be directed to the project architect, Ed Gillikin with KOP Architects by email at egillikin@koparchitects.com. All questions must be submitted on the VCUHECO Form Pre-Bid Question Form, included in the project specifications and down-loadable electronically. The deadline for submitting questions is 12:00 Noon on 14 May 2020. The contract shall be awarded on a lump sum basis as follows: the Total Base Bid Amount including any properly submitted and received bid modifications plus such successive Additive Bid Items as the Owner in its discretion decides to award in the manner set forth in Paragraph 12 of the Instructions to Bidders. 'Notice of Award' or 'Notice of Intent to Award' will be posted Virginia Department of General Services' central electronic procurement electronically Contractor registration is required in accordance with Section 54.1-1103 of the Code of Virginia. See the Invitation for Bids for additional qualification requirements. It is the policy of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) to contribute to the establishment, preservation, and strengthening of small, women and minority owned businesses (SWaM), as certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (DSBSD), and to encourage their participation in VCU procurement activities. To this end, VCU has established an overall SWaM participation goal of 42% for fiscal year 2020 and encourages Contractors to provide for the participation SWaM businesses through partnerships, joint ventures, subcontracts, or other contractual opportunities. A non-refundable shipping charge of $50.00 per set is required for all sets requiring shipment. Please submit separate checks made out to KOP Architects.
