Asphalt pavement overlay improvements to existing City streets and associated work, including upgrade or replacement of select pedestrian ramps at existing intersection pedestrian crossing. HMAC Quantities. General overlay limits are shown on maps in Appendix A. Each bidder shall be solely and entirely responsible for determining the quantities of HMAC pavement required to complete the pre-level work and the overlay under each lump sum bid item. The actual overlay limits (start & stop locations along each street segment, and edge of overlay) will be painted in the field for inspection and reference by the bidders (painting to be completed within 3 days after initial advertisement for bid). Pre-level paving shall result in a smooth, uniform surface (from centerline to edge of pavement). The overlay shall be to the specified minimum thickness and extend to the existing edge of pavement (or painted limits where this is greater). Failure by the Contractor to accurately determine the actual quantities required will not entitle the contractor to any claim for additional compensation, unless the City modifies the limits of the required overlay in writing. Bid items to include edge grinding where overlay will be adjacent to existing curbs. Pedestrian Ramp & Sidewalk Quantities. General location of pedestrian ramps & sidewalk extensions are noted on maps. Each bidder shall be solely and entirely responsible for determining the quantities of concrete required to complete the construction of new pedestrian ramps, new curbs, sidewalk replacement or extension under each lump sum bid item. The general pedestrian ramp replacement locations (at each applicable intersection) will be painted in the field for inspection and reference by the bidders (painting to be completed within 3 days after initial advertisement for bid). Bidders shall verify actual quantities & limits required to comply with slope limitations listed on the drawing details on in the specifications, as required to meet ADA and PROWAG standards. Failure by the Contractor to accurately determine the actual quantities required will not entitle the contractor to any claim for additional compensation, unless the City modifies the limits of the required sidewalks in writing. Bid items to include sawcutting & removal of portions of existing sidewalks or walkways as applicable.
