New construction of an educational facility in Scarborough, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a educational facility.
Construction of a replacement school for Poplar Road Junior PS to address the long-term pupil accommodation needs of the community. The scope of work will include a 341-pupil place JK-8 school. The elements will include two Full Day Kindergarten Rooms, four 4 Primary Classrooms, five Junior Classrooms and two Intermediate Classrooms. There will also be art, science, music classrooms, four special education classrooms, a learning common, a double gymnasium and stage, and operation spaces. TIMELINE: This project is preliminary. The owner has completed a feasibility study that includes a concept plan. The project ranks third in the owner's Top 5 Capital Priority Projects for 2022-23. Funding has been approved from the Provincial Ministry of Education under the Capital Priorities grant program in February 2022. A Request For Proposals closed late 2023 and was awarded early 2024. Design is underway. Further schedules for working drawings, tender and construction schedules have are not finalized.
