Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Vernon Rockvl, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
***As of January 19, 2021 project has been awarded with the amount of 519,011.90. The Town of Vernon, Connecticut is seeking bids from qualified vendors for the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) improvements in the vicinity of Dart Hill, Talcottville and Loveland Hill Roads. The Project involves improving safety conditions for bicycling and walking to school with proposed improvements to sidewalks, walkways, handicap ramps, signage and other safety improvements. Drainage work includes converting an existing catch basin to a manhole, 6 catch basin resets, and replacing 5 catch basin tops. A responding firm must have demonstrated experience in providing such service and adhere to standards and requirements typical for such service. Each bidder must provide a certified check or bid bond for five percent (5%) of the bid as provided in the information for Bidders. All bonds must be from sureties listed on the most recent U.S. Treasury Circular 570. A Maintenance Bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the contract sum shall be required after completion of the work and prior to final payment. Minimum Federal and State Wage Rates are required for this project. No Bid may be withdrawn for a period of 90 days after the actual date of the opening. The allowed time of completion for work under this contract is 95 days from the notice to proceed. This project will have a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal of 12% of the construction contract value as certified by CT DOT. DBE Submittal Requirements - The two (2) lowest bidders DBE Commitment Approval Request form(s) meeting the established DBE contract goal percentage or Good Faith Effort (GFE) Application Request including all backup documentation, as applicable, are due to the Department no later than five (5) calendar days after the bid opening. It is highly recommended that all bidders complete the required documentation during their bid preparation process in order to meet the DBE submittal requirement. If not received on time your bid may be rejected as non-responsive. Questions about this RFP should be directed to David Smith, Town Engineer, by email only to Dsmith@vernon-ct.gov no later than Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 4:30 pm. Answers to inquiries will be posted by Thursday, July 9, 2020 It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to review any or all addendum or question responses. The Selected Firm must meet all municipal, state, federal AA and EEO practices and requirements. MBEs, WBEs, and SBEs are encouraged to apply. All bidders are required to inform themselves fully of the conditions relating to the construction and labor under which the work will be or is now being performed and the contractor shall employ, as far as possible, such methods and means in the carrying out of this work as will not cause interruption or interference with any other contractor. The Town of Vernon, prior to the awarding of any contract, may require further financial and other information from any applicant who becomes the low bidder for that contract. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all proposals in whole or part, if in its sole determination, the proposal(s) are deemed to not be in the best interest of the Town of Vernon.
