Remodeling of a mixed-use development in Palestine, Texas. Completed plans call for the remodel of a clubhouse / community center; and conference / convention center.
The proposed renovation, approximately 2,040 S.F., is designed to accommodate administrative offices. The building is classified as type II-B construction and the occupancy is classified as Business. repairs and renovations, including replacing outdated stage and lighting equipment, repairing the roof and flooring, reconfiguring wiring, and updating the building to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards. As of August 24, 2020, the County Commissioners voted to purchase the former Civic Center building and the purchase and deed transfer is underway. The citizens of the County will need to pass a 1 cent tax hike for 2021 to see the work completed. A public hearing about the Tax Hike will be held August 24 at 9:30 AM. The RFP for Architectural services is targeted to be released in about 45 days. The construction could start early in 2021.
