Plans are being made for the construction of a new canopy/walkway addition to Wingfield High School located at 1985 Scanlon Drive in Jackson, Mississippi. The proposed canopy/walkway will be constructed along the west side of the existing main building. The canopy/walkway will be about 160 ft long and run north and south. We understand that the existing buildings are supported by deep foundation systems and that the proposed canopy will also be supported by a deep foundation system consisting of either auger-drilled and cast-inplace, reinforced concrete, bell-bottom piers or helical piles. Details regarding grading plans have not been provided; however, we anticipate only nominal cutting and/or filling will be required. We also understand that a proposed repair consisting of reestablishing the existing crawl space of the existing cafeteria is being planned and, at the request of the project structural engineer, an additional borehole was made on the east side of the existing cafeteria. The proposed construction area for the addition is open with an existing concrete sidewalk.
