Site work for a transportation facility in Port Graham, Alaska. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.
AIP TBD / Z556880000-C This federally funded contract will perform drilling between Port Graham and Nanwalek, Alaska beginning approximately May 2022. This project site is the location for a proposed new airport and access roads to both Port Graham and Nanwalek. This drilling is in support of gathering geotechnical design data. Approximately 47 test holes are planned with some requiring the installation of slope inclinometers. Drill rig and associated tooling and materials will be air lifted to drill sites via helicopter. Field work will be supervised by a DOT&PF engineering geologist. Helicopter services will be procured under a separate contract and provided by the Department for the work described. The Engineer's Estimate is between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000. Plans, Specs, Bid Packets and Addenda along with other additional information pertaining to the project may now be downloaded in their entirety at no charge from the Department's approved online bidding service: Portal. From the DOT&PF Portal your company must self-register by clicking on the Plan Holders link, or register with the Central Region Plans Room, or your bid may not be accepted. Individuals with disabilities, including the hearing impaired, who may need auxiliary aids, services, and/or special modifications to submit a bid/proposal should contact the TTD number: (907) 269-0473, no later than one week prior to the submittal date to make any necessary arrangements. The Department, in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), adopted a Race-Neutral DBE Program in the Central and Southcoast Regions with a DBE Utilization Goal of 6.1% for Southcoast Region and 8.3% for Central Region's FAA Federal-Aid program. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region Materials (CRM) requests bids to perform drilling in a mountainous area between Nanwalek and Port Graham (NPG), Alaska. This project site is the location for a proposed new airport and access road to Port Graham and Nanwalek. Much of the site is on a hillside, occasionally steep, covered by old growth western hemlock and spruce trees that are as much as six feet in diameter and up to 150 feet tall. This drilling is in support of gathering geotechnical design data with the following key aspects: o Approximately 47 test holes are planned. These are shown on Figure 1 (Proposed Test Hole Location Map). Table 1 provides the test hole number, coordinates, desired depth and drilling method, and indicates if a slope inclinometer (SI) pipe is to be installed. o Field work will be supervised by a DOT&PF Engineering Geologist(s). o DOT&PF and its design Consultant have obtained Revocable Use Permits (RUPs) for entry onto the premises. A redacted example of the RUP is in Attachment A. o DOT&PF will perform utility locates and obtain any other necessary permits (e.g., additional access permits, DNR Temporary Water Use Permits, or environmental clearances). o A mandatory post award recon visit (taking an estimated 3 days) will be performed prior to mobilizing equipment and materials to the site. o Storage of equipment and materials will not be available at either the Port Graham or Nanwalek Airports. o NOTICE - Helicopter services will be procured under a separate contract and provided by the Department for the work described.
