The City of Texas City is requesting bids for the Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Project. The project involves the removal of an existing wooden pedestrian bridge located between the levee and Bay Street Park drainage crossing along the Bay Street Shared Use path, and replacing with a prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge with concrete decking (approximately 160' span by 12' wide.) It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to ensure that his bid is actually in the Texas City Public Works Purchasing office prior to the expiration of the time and date above first written. Bid security in the amount of five (5) percent of the greatest amount bid must accompany each bid. It shall be each bidder's sole responsibility to inspect the site of the work and to inform himself regarding all local conditions under which the work is to be done. It shall be understood and agreed that all such factors have been thoroughly investigated and considered in the preparation of the bid submitted. The Contractor and all Subcontractors for this project will be required to pay not less than the prevailing wage rates for the area of the project as required in the contract documents. Upon consideration of the proposals the City Commission plans to award a Contract; however the Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any and all formalities and technicalities, and to accept any bid which it deems advantageous to the owner. Each bidder agrees to waive any claim it has or may have against the Owner, the Engineer, and their respective employees, arising out of or in connection with the administration, evaluation or recommendation of any bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and payment bond in an amount of 100% of the total contract price.
