For Town Wide Chip Seal Coating The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, material, supplies, trucking, environmental protections, sweeping, signage, traffic control, secondary sweeping, project clean-up and other incidentals necessary to provide an acceptable single- or double-layer chip seal surface to roads in accordance with these specifications. Prior to the Contractors work, the Town of Wallingford will: o remove all vegetation on the road surface by applying an appropriate herbicide, scraping, etc.; o provide an initial sweeping of the entire road surface to be treated. The Contractors work shall then commence as follows: o Prepare the pavement surface including additional sweeping; o Cover all catch basins, manholes or other utility castings with cut to fit plastic sheets. All traces of plastic, residual emulsion and chips shall be removed after application; o Apply the Polymer Modified Asphalt Surface Sealer; o Apply the aggregate; o Roll the aggregate; o Sweep up and properly dispose of all excess aggregate and debris. State law requires a minimum of twenty-five (25%) percent of the state-funded portion of the contract for award to subcontractors holding current certification from the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services ("DAS") under the provisions of CONN. GEN. STAT. 4a-60g, as amended. (25% of the work with DAS certified Small and Minority owned businesses and 25% of that work with DAS certified Minority, Women and/or Disabled owned businesses.) The contractor must demonstrate good faith effort to meet the 25% set-aside goals.
