This project includes providing a new elementary school on the site of the existing school. Also included, but is not limited to, installing an underground stormwater detention system; demolish three existing homes and the existing school; all sitework, including a new parking lot, bus lane, and playground; and constructing a new, approximately 68,000 SF, two story elementary school building which will primarily consist of a steel structure with infill masonry exterior walls. The gymnasium, stairwells, and cafeteria will be CMU bearing walls. The gymnasium will also serve as a storm shelter (as defined by ICC-500) which has been designed to meet specific requirements.
