**As of 1/28/2021 project was already awarded, Start date and end date is 3/2021-6/2023. The Shepherd Drive Utility and Civil Improvements project consists of a conversion from overhead to underground facilities as well a full reconstruction of Shepherd Drive and Farnham Street. The utility improvements include removing overhead powerlines and telecommunication (telecom) lines and converting to underground facilities. The civil improvements include installation of new storm sewer, water line, roadway reconstruction, new traffic signals, new sidewalks, landscaping, street lighting, pedestrian lighting, upgraded METRO bus stop shelters, and will include removing temporary utility asphalt pavement placed in this project. The limits of work are along South Shepherd Drive between Westheimer and US 59, Farnham Drive between Greenbriar and South Shepherd Drive, and along adjacent side streets including: Lexington, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Richmond, Colquitt, West Main, Branard, Sul Ross, Alabama, Marshall, Kipling, Harold, and McDuffie. South Shepherd, Farnham Drive, and the adjacent side streets consist of existing asphalt pavement. Temporary asphalt pavement will be placed only where existing street pavement and sidewalks are disturbed for the overhead to underground conversions. The project reconstruction will cover approximately 4,800 linear feet mostly within the Shepherd public right-of-way and approximately 800 linear feet within the Farnham public right-of-way. The Engineers estimate is between $20 Million and $25 Million. MBE+SBE goal for the project is 17%. DBE goal is 14%.
