The project shall rehabilitate the existing rail stations for each of the inbound and outbound tracks. The rehabilitated stations should be minimal and transparent in their environment, while being sensitive and supportive of the surrounding area and community. The station design should provide for safe egress of the railcars (lighting, positive traction surfaces, crosswalks, etc.) and ease of maintenance (snow and ice management, routine maintenance and cleaning, etc.). More than 500,000 riders used this station in 2019 which provides a direct connection between the Canalside District and growing tourism, health, education, and life-science clusters along the Main Street Corridor. The Station is a short distance away from other popular waterfront destination within the Canalside/Cobblestone Districts such as the KeyBank Center, Harborcenter, Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park, Buffalo River Fest Park, Silo City, Shoreline Trail, and RiverWorks complex.
