Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a fitness / recreation center in Rantoul, Illinois. Completed plans call for the addition of a fitness / recreation center; for the demolition of a fitness / recreation center; for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center; and for site work for a fitness / recreation center.
Forum Fitness Center Renovation and Expansion. Project consists of a new fire-separated, type 2B, 3,000 sf addition housing additional fitness area and a new controlled lobby. The new addition will be conditioned by a roof-top mounted packaged unit with a new electrical service. Lobby and weight room improvements include fire-rated glazed openings for improved control, expanded weight room with new exterior windows and removal of an observation corridor stair. Existing expanded fitness room improvements include new exterior windows, underfloor power and data distribution, new and new flooring. Existing locker room improvements include locker replacement, paint and steam room renovations. Bidders may contact Bruce Cairns, Architect, bcairns@cordoganclark.com with any questions during the bidding process. All questions shall be submitted in writing via email. Architect will provide responses at Pre-bid conference to bidders questions received up to two business days prior to conference. A bid surety in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid price shall accompany each sealed bid. The surety can be in the form of a bid bond or certified check and should be made payable to: Village of Rantoul. The bid surety of all bidders, except the successful Contractor(s), shall be returned within ten (10) days after the (Owners) decision to accept and/or reject bids. The successful Contractors bid surety shall be returned upon receipt of an acceptable performance Bond, Payment Bond, and Certificate of Insurance. Within (10) days after the award of contract, the successful contractor shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond, each equal to 100% of the contract and all obligations arising from it. Bonds shall be provided on the AIA-312 Form or similar form and shall become part of the Contract. The failure of the successful bidder to enter into contract and supply the required bonds within the (10) days of award of contract, or within such extended period as the Owner may grant, shall constitute default, and the Owner may either award the contract to the next responsible bidder, or re-advertise for bids. A charge against the defaulting bidder may be made for the difference between the amount of the bid and the amount for which a subsequent contract is executed, irrespective of whether the amount thus due exceeds the amount of the bid guarantee. Start of Construction: May 19, 2021 Substantial Completion: December 15, 2021 Final Completion: January 14, 2022 Vetting process will begin on April 26, 2021 via Microsoft Teams digital meeting. It is mandatory that the following subcontractors be in attendance. Failure to complete the Work on the dates set forth will result in significant economic losses to the Owner. Contractor agrees to perform the Work fully and in all things execute and finally complete the Work done before the scheduled dates as set forth. Should the Contractor fail to complete the Work within such time, Contractor agrees to pay and will apply to the Owner for each and every day of such delay in completion of the Work beyond the dates set forth, the sum of $750 as liquidated damages. Liquidated damages may apply if the scheduled dates listed in the previous section are not met. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities.
