Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Glenwood, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 66,000-square-foot, two-story above grade, 517-seat educational facility.

The Aahsaopi Elementary School is located in Lavern, Alberta and provides programs for kindergarten through to grade 5 out of the 2,570 SM existing building. The facility does not meet the required capacity of the surrounding community, projected growth over the next 5-10 years of operations, or the functional requirements of the staff and students. During initial planning, the feasibility of an addition and renovation to the existing building was reviewed and it was determined to not be a viable option given the deterioration of the buildings structure and envelope, air quality concerns, and general lack of functionality in the current school layout. Given this, it was determined that construction of a new facility is the most viable option for expansion and will also facilitate the school remaining operational throughout construction. The new Aahsaopi Elementary School is to be situated next to the existing elementary school and is currently proposed to be built just North of the current building. The new school is planned to accommodate 517 new students within an open, innovative, and energy efficient 6,141 SM space that provides communal gathering and adaptable learning areas that supports the future expansion of the school's capacity/programs. Design of the facility is to encompass and reflect the Blackfoot cultural values, engagement with the community and a connection with nature. Infrastructure upgrades are currently planned for Lavern and will adequately service the demand of a new building of this size and asset class.
