Proposals must be received prior to the RFP's Closing Date and Time. Since initial impoundment of Dickson Dam in 1983, the Gleniffer Reservoir shoreline has experienced erosion in many areas around the reservoir and various minor remedial work and erosion protection schemes have been implemented over time. There are a number of areas where shoreline erosion is jeopardizing existing government owned land reserves. Previous studies have shown that the wind, waves and geotechnical instability due to soil characteristic are the contributing factors for the cause of shoreline erosion. SNC Lavalin completed a Reservoir Erosion study in 2019 that was initiated by Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP). The study assessed the previous KCB erosion study (2006), present and estimated future shoreline conditions in key areas around the reservoir and recommended remedial measures, where required. In the study, the entire reservoir shoreline has been sectioned and labeled (Figure 1.0 and 6.0). A bank erosion hazard index was applied to each section to identify the areas of high risk. The study concluded that the sections 13, 14A, 14B and 14C that include Carefree Resort and the Dickson Leisure Grounds are at the highest risk of being impacted by long term erosion. The study provides general concepts (such as use of riprap, excavation and loading material for slope stability, use of erosion control blanket and filter cloth, as well as sheet-piling and retaining walls) and a high level cost estimation in order of $40 Million to address the erosion in the areas around the reservoir. Site-specific detailed options and construction methods to address erosion have not been identified. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time.
