UPDATE This project evolved during a FY2021 Council Budget Work Session of how to best utilize additional funds from the Operating Budget into CIP. It was determined to use these funds to design an Extension of Hobbs Road 3,000 LF as a 4-lane curb and gutter street from its current southerly most end to FM 517. The design would include two phases; an option phase where Staff would select the most desirable route; Phase 2 would be the remaining design work from the option selected during phase 1. FY2024 would include 100ft ROW purchase for new 4-lane minor arterial street. Construction of the initial 2-lanes would include drainage improvements, and intersection improvements at the Hobbs Road and FM 517 intersection. The construction budget for 2-lanes is an estimate based on direct alignment and will be updated once the scope is defined during the design process. The remaining 2-lanes for a 4-lane roadway will be a future project. The project estimate does not include the realignment of Cemetery Road which is required for TxDOT approval. This project is currently on HOLD as there is no consensus with Dickinson on the realignment of Cemetery Road.
