The SE 8th Street Reconstruction - Phase 2 project includes pavement reconstruction from South Ankeny Boulevard to SE Oak Drive. The project also consists of earthwork, PCC sidewalk and driveway pavement, water main, storm sewer, and other associated work. The improvements include construction of approximately 2,990 SY of 8-inch PCC pavement, approximately 120 SY of 6-inch PCC driveway, approximately 230 SY of 7-inch PCC driveway, approximately 640 SY of PCC sidewalk, RCP storm sewer between 15-inch diameter and 24-inch diameter, storm sewer structures, removal of existing water main, approximately 850 LF of 8-inch water main, water main valves and hydrants, subgrade preparation, modified subbase, subdrain, pavement removal, traffic control, temporary sidewalks, erosion control, excavation, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. The Contractor shall fully complete the overall project within seventy-five (75) working days. Full completion for the overall project shall be defined as all utility, grading, and pavement construction completed, with the new streets, driveways, and sidewalks fully open to traffic, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. A mandatory six-day work week is required and working days will be charged on Saturdays. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s). The City of Ankeny does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
