The construction of eight (8) shade structures at the Bickle -Schmidt Sports Complex. The City of Hays Parks Department has prepared this RFP and has designated Jeff Boyle, Director of Parks, as the project manager. Include all materials, labor, equipment and mobilization/travel needed for this project to be a success and to be considered a turnkey event. All permits will be provided by the City of Hays. Structures shall meet the 2015 International Building Code and specifically the 115-mph wind speed and 25 psf ground snow load requirements to our local area. A performance bond to the Owner, in an amount equal to 100 percent (100%) of the contract price. Payment Bond. A statutory bond to the State of Kansas in an amount equal to 100 percent (100%) of the contract price filed with the Clerk of the Ellis County District Court. The contractor shall be licensed with the City of Hays. All products provided under the terms of this contract shall be new and free from defects in material and workmanship. Contractor will be required to take special care during the installation of the shade structures to avoid unnecessary damage to the turf, concrete and other amenities in the work areas. The concrete throughout the facility is approximately four (4) inches thick. Equipment that is heavier than a standard pickup truck will likely cause damage. The Contractor will be held responsible for any damage to existing structures, work, materials, or equipment because of his operations and shall repair or replace any such damaged structures, work, materials or equipment to the satisfaction of, and at no additional cost to, the Owner. The City of Hays will remove all bleachers and existing shade structures prior to new construction beginning. There are a few locations that have utilities in close proximity to work locations. Those areas have been sawcut (~36"x36") and potholed by City Staff to locate the utilities in order to confirm location. The open saw cut locations will be left exposed to allow for viewing during the on-site visit and left exposed during construction. Proposals shall include all concrete work for these aforementioned areas as well as any other concrete cuts required for structure installation. A thick expansion joint will be required around each post to allow for slight movement without cracking the concrete. Self-leveling caulk shall be applied to these areas upon completion. All newly poured concrete areas will have rebar installed into the existing concrete for structural support. The City of Hays reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or any part of any proposals, to waive minor defects or technicalities, or to solicit new proposals on the same project or on a modified project which may include portions of the originally proposed project as the City of Hays may deem necessary in its best interest. The City also reserves the right to negotiate with any contractor, all or part of any proposal that is in the best interest of the City.
