Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Ankeny, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The SE Delaware Avenue and SE 8th Street Widening and Traffic Signalization project includes symmetrical widening of SE Delaware Avenue from a 4-lane urban roadway to a 5-lane urban roadway to accommodate northbound and southbound left-turn lanes at SE 8th Street. The project also includes improvements to SE 8th Street and SE Mill Pond Court to provide a left-turn lane, a through lane, and a right-turn lane for each approach. The improvements include approximately 325 SY of 8" thick PCC street pavement, 2,480 SY of 9" thick PCC street pavement, 135 LF of storm sewer, 1,710 LF of subdrain, 70 STA of pavement markings, class 10 excavation, removals, subgrade preparation, modified subbase, sidewalk, traffic control, traffic signals, erosion control, surface restoration, monument sign relocation, bio-swale installation, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. The City will furnish traffic signal poles and mast arms, ATC cabinet, controller and accessories, and 48VDC LED signal modules for contractor installation. The Contractor shall fully complete the overall project within seventy-five (75) working days. Full completion for the overall project shall be defined as all utility, grading, and pavement completed, the traffic signal fully operational, with the new streets, driveways, and sidewalks fully open to traffic, seeding and restoration complete, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. A mandatory six-day work week is required and working days will be charged on Saturdays. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s). The City of Ankeny does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
