Bidder's attention is called to the requirements as to the conditions of employment to be observed and to the requirements for commencement and completion of the work. No bidder may withdraw his bid within 90 days after the actual date of the bid opening. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids or any part thereof, to waive defects in the same, or to accept any proposal or any part thereof deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Thompson, Connecticut. All bidders are requested to note that the award of this Contract is subject to the following conditions and contingencies: 1) The approval of such governmental agencies as may be required by law. 2) The appropriation of adequate funds by the proper agencies. Work under this contract includes the installation of a 12' X 4' precast concrete box culvert and associated work including grading, paving, guide rail installation, and incidental work on West Thompson Road. BIDDER must agree to commence work on or before a date to be specified in a written Notice to Proceed from the ENGINEER or the OWNER and to fully complete the project within 45 consecutive calendar days thereafter. It is required that stream work and the road closure shall be completed within a two week period in the low flow season between July 12, 2021 and August 6, 2021. The road must be paved with the binder course and open to alternating one way traffic by August 20, 2021, prior to the school year starting. Work shall be performed within the normal working hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Mondays through Saturdays. Bidder must agree also to pay as liquidated damages, the sum of $1000.00 for each consecutive calendar day thereafter as hereinafter provided in the GENERAL CONDITIONS. Bidder must also agree to pay liquidated damages for each day that the road remains closed beyond the 2 week period allowed in the Special Conditions, section 7.
