Project Description: Work includes the furnishing and installation of ductile iron water main, plus associated water services, fire hydrants, valves and surface restoration work. Work also includes the provision of a temporary water main and services during construction in the following location: Longmeadow Road - approximately 1,105 l.f. of 8" ductile iron water main. As well as the furnishing and installation of temporary main and fire hydrants and approximately 335 l.f. of 1" copper service. This alternate includes the small drainage project to replace the catch basins in front of 35 Longmeadow Rd and adding a Manhole and replacing 230 l.f. of 12" drainage pipe. Every Bid shall be accompanied by cash; a bid bond; or a certified check; or a treasurer's check; or a cashier's check; issued by a responsible bank or trust company, made payable to the Town of Weston, in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount. The successful Bidder will be required to provide a labor and materials payment bond and performance bond issued by a company authorized to do business in Massachusetts and satisfactory to the Awarding Authority, in the amount of full contract price (100%) for Payment bond and fifty percent (50%) of the Contract Amount for Performance bond. Attention is directed to the minimum wage rates to be paid as determined by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 and 27D inclusive. Selection of the contractor will be based upon bidder qualifications, including evidence of past performance in similar projects, and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder. The Town reserves the right to waive any informalities, to accept or reject, in whole or in part any or all bids, or take whatever other action may be deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.
