Renovation of a mixed-use development in Burlington, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and theater / auditorium.

For Walter M. Williams High School Bond Project The scope of work includes: Major architectural upgrades to the Auditorium Wing, including: Refurbish/replace seating, new carpets and floor finishes, new partition, toilet upgrades, etc. Major mechanical upgrades to the Auditorium Wing, including: Replace AHUs-I and 2 serving the Auditorium. Replace AHU-3 serving the Fine Arts Wing. New Auditorium house & backstage emergency lighting and controls. New air-cooled chiller and chilled water piping, pumps, valves, fittings, and auxiliary/ancillary equipment, etc. Replace outside stairs at the back of the Auditorium (near the Mechanical Room). Major toilet upgrades in the Classroom Building. Security Upgrades. Fire alarm modifications as needed A single contract will be accepted for all work. All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license under the state laws governing their respective trades. Contractors are notified that provisions of Chapter 87, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding contracts. Minority Business Participation: Bidders shall note that compliance with Alamance-Burlington School System MBE policies and the North Carolina Statute 143-128.2 (c) are required for this project. Bids not including the specified MBE submittal for bidding are considered non-responsive. Iran Divestment Act: Bidders shall note that the submission of a bid constitutes the bidder's certification to the State Treasurer that, as of the date of bid, it is not listed on the Final Divestment List created and maintained by the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer (the "Treasurer's Office") pursuant to the Iran Divestment Act of 2015, Chapter 147-Article 6E of the General Statutes of North Carolina (the "Iran Divestment Act"). Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check, drawn on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than 5 per cent of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of 5 per cent of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds, conditioned that the surety will upon demand forthwith make payment to the oblige upon said bond if the bidder fails to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. Performance Bond and Payment Bond will be required for one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price. Payment will be made monthly on the basis of completion of work, with retainage in accordance with NC General Statutes 143-134-1. Any addenda to drawings and specifications issued during the time of bidding are to be considered covered in the proposal and in closing a contract they will become a part thereof. It shall be the bidder's responsibility to ascertain prior to bid time the addenda issued and to see that his bid includes any changes thereby required. Should the bidder find discrepancies in, or omission from, the drawings or documents or should he be in doubt as to their meaning, he shall at once notify the Designer in writing who will send written instructions in the form of addenda to all bidders. Notification must be not later than ten (10) days prior to the date set for receipt of bids. Neither the Owner nor the Designer will be responsible for any oral instructions. All addenda shall be acknowledged by the bidders on the Form of Proposal. Requests for substitutions of materials or equipment shall be submitted by prospective bidders in writing to the Designer not later than ten (10) days prior to the date set for receipt of bids. Approvals to bid equivalent products will be issued in addenda. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days. Questions cutoff date of March 8, 2021 at 5:00 P.M.
