Site work for a mixed-use development in Lexington Park, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility.

Only those Contractors who prequalify to bid in accordance with SMCPS's Request for Qualifications and Prequalification Process will be eligible to submit a construction bid for the Project as listed herein. Any Contractors who submit construction bids without prequalifying shall be deemed non-responsible bidders and any bid submitted without prequalification in accordance with the prequalification process shall be deemed nonresponsive for the Contractors failure to prequalify. The proposed project is for the replacement of the existing elementary school's sewage disposal system. The existing disposal system consists of a series of cesspools which will no longer be used. The site is located at 45805 Dent Drive in Lexington Park, Maryland. A new low-pressure distribution replacement system is proposed. The total trench length is based on a low-pressure distribution system. The loading rate of 1.2 gpd per square foot from COMAR 26.04.02.05.K has been used with a trench width of 3.0 feet. The design includes a 5,000-gallon pump chamber. The site will also have an interior grease trap installed in the kitchen. Gravity flow will run from the building to and through the septic tank to the pump chamber. The complete system will contain three cells each with four (4) laterals each at an approximate length of 53 linear feet. There will be 5/6-inch diameter orifices in each lateral and there will be 13 orifices per lateral spaced 4' apart. The first and last perforation will be 4.5' from each end of each lateral. Each lateral shall be the same length and have the same perforation number and pattern. The required pumping rate is computed to be 84.7 (85) gallons per minute (gpm). A 3" force main is proposed to control friction loss and to limit the velocity to less than 5.0 feet per second. The force main will connect to a 3" diameter manifold that will have 3" x 2" tees at each lateral connection. The manifold must be the same size as the force main. There shall be no 90-degree fittings on the system as two-45-degree bends shall be used. The awardee will be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and inspections for the work
