Tacoma School District Design/Build Services for the Safety and Security Upgrades Bundle Project. Progressive Design-Build Services for the Saibty and Security Upgrades Bundle project. The Tacoma School District is requesting qualifications from Contractors interested in pro-viding Design/Build (D/B) ser-vices for the Safety and Security Upgrades Bundle project. The Alternative Public Works con-tracting procedure authorized in RCW 39.10.30(1 through 39.10.330 will be utilized for this proj-ect. This project will utilize the Progressive Design/B uild delivery method. Contractors with previous design/build experience or experi-ence using a similar alternative construction delivery format are encouraged to submit. During the project, the Design/ Builder wilt receive overall direc-tion from designated representa-tives in. the Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) Planning & Construction Office and will work. collabora-tively as a member of a team to achieve project objectives. In addition to staff from the TPS Planning and Construction Office, this team may include repre-sentatives from other District departments, the Design/Build Consultant. (Paramet.rix), other district consultants and members from the community. This project; will be to design and construct, retrofit safety and security upgrades for multiple school sites across the District. Generally, the scope of work will include, but is not limited to, design, construction and integra-tion of secure building entry sys-tems, building access control sys-tems, intrusion detection systems, intercom systems, CCTV systems and related infrastructure. The design and construction budget for this project is approximately $6,250,000. The District reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to increase or decrease the scope, value and duration of this proj-ect and the related contract. This project; is funded under a capital bond that was passed by voters in February of 2020. For purposes of this exercise, assume a May 27, 2021 notice to proceed for preconstruction services; final substantial completion date of no later than December 31, 2022. As part of Tacoma Public Schools commitment to investing in the community, as documented in its 2016 Community Inclusion Commitment, contractors are expected to implement an outreach plan to attempt to meet or exceed the Districts minimum utilization goals of ten percent (10%) certified minority-owned businesses, six percent (6%) certified women-owned businesses, and five percent (5%) certified small business enterprises in district construction projects, based on the prime contractors total contract dollar.
