Design-Build Services for the Regional Robotics Center project. Instructions to Respondents Project Information: The Tacoma School District is requesting qualifications from firms interested in providing Design-Build (DB) services related to the Regional Robotics Center project. The alternate Public Works contracting procedure authorized in RCW 39.10.300 through 39.10.330 will be utilized for this project. Submittal of a bid bond is not required as part of the response to the RFQ or RFP. However, a letter from Surety is required to be submitted as part of the Design-Builders response to the RFQ. (Please refer to RFQ Section 2.2.) This project will utilize the Progressive Design-Build (PDB) delivery method. Firms with previous PDB experience, or experience using a similar alternative construction delivery format, are encouraged to submit. During the project, the Design-Builder will receive direction from designated representatives in the Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) Planning & Construction Office and will work collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve project objectives. In addition to staff from the TPS Planning and Construction Office, the TPS team may include representatives from other District departments, the Design/Build Consultant (Parametrix) and other TPS consultants. The project, in partnership with the America's Automotive Trust, and the LeMay - America's Car Museum, will be a new Regional Robotics Center with the aim to be a hub in the region for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and position Tacoma to become a leader in robotics education and technology. The facility will include spaces to include, but not be limited to, a fabrication and build shop, an arena with seating, support and supply facilities, meeting areas and practice space. The facility will be located adjacent to the Lemay - America's Car Museum and will be approximately 6,000-10,000 square feet of space.
