Bid Bond: 5% of the bid amount: The Bid Bond may be in the form of a Bid Bond, Bank Treasurer's or Bank Cashier's Check made payable to the City of Gloucester The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, services, materials, equipment, plant, machinery, apparatus, appliances, tools, supplies, and all other things necessary to do all work required for the completion of each item of the Work and as herein specified. The Work to be done and paid for under any item shall not be limited to the exact extent mentioned or described but shall include all incidental work necessary or customarily done for the completion of that item. The existing Bridge No. G-05-011 is an open steel grid deck bolted to fifteen (15) sawn timber stringers supported by granite masonry abutments with concrete beam seats. The existing roadway supports a single lane of traffic. The proposed roadway will not be widened. It will support a single lane of traffic 14'-6" wide. The proposed bridge is a prestressed concrete butted deck beam bridge supported on reinforced concrete cantilevered abutments. The abutments will be placed at the existing locations to maintain the exiting hydraulic opening. The existing roadway profile will be maintained. Proposed wingwalls are required at all four corners to replace the existing granite masonry walls. The work to be done under this contract includes, but is not limited to, demolition of the existing structure and walls, excavation, full depth pavement reconstruction, proposed wingwall, guardrail and proposed bridge construction as shown on the Plans. The work will also include any other Items as set forth in the contract documents. All work under this contract shall be done in conformance with the MassDOT Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges dated 2020, 2017 Construction Standard Details, the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments and the Standard Municipal Traffic Code; the latest edition of American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions. The bridge will be closed during construction. The City of Gloucester will be responsible for the closing and all associated traffic management Items of work.
