Most of the work is expected to be performed during school hours unless deemed too noisy or disruptive. At that point the work would need to be performed to after school hours and weekends. The new mechanical yard work is one area that can be done during school hours (after coordinating with the school). The demo of the existing chiller, cooling tower, etc. will be done during spring or summer break when school is out. Therefore, temporary cooling is not required. Remove existing shrubs, trees, sidewalks, handrails, underground piping, and utilities in the area of the new Central Plant Yard . "Award" means a determination by District that it is entering into a contract with one or more Bidders or Offerors. A contract under this bid will be made to a single vendor. The award will be limited to the least number of offerors that the District determines is necessary to meet the needs of the District. A surety bond, provided from a surety company licensed by the State of Arizona, payable to MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 for ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid must be uploaded to ProcureNow in the Questionnaire section as a guarantee that the Contractor will enter into a contract to perform the bid in accordance with the plans and specifications or as liquidated damages in the event of failure or refusal of the Contractor to enter into the contract. The low vendor will be required to mail, or hand deliver the original bid bond to the buyer in 48 hours after the bid due date and time. The original bond will be returned to the successful bidder upon the execution of satisfactory performance, payment bond, and contract, as prescribed by Arizona Revised Statutes. The bid will not be considered valid if the required original bid bond is not received by the buyer in 48 hours. Cost of bid bond must be included in bid price. Contractor shall be liable for and shall pay District the sum of $1,500 per day as liquidated damages, and not as a penalty, for each calendar day of delay after the date specified in the Solicitation or any extension thereof granted by District for completion of work until the work is complete. Contractor shall pay liquidated damages to District without limiting District's right to terminate the Contract for default as provided elsewhere herein. 7. SCOPE OF WORK 7.1. Mechanical Demolition Remove existing cooling tower and associated piping, structural supports, chemical treatment equipment, floor sink, and portion of ductwork from roof. Remove existing screw chiller, chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, all corresponding piping, buffer tank, fan coil unit, exhaust fan/ductwork, VFDs, expansion tank, air separator, refrigerant monitor, pot feeder, control panel, etc. from Mechanical Room on roof. Remove condenser water piping from Air Handler Room on roof. 7.2. Mechanical Provide 2 new 165-ton, high efficient air-cooled chillers and corresponding chilled water piping in new Chiller Yard on grade. Provide 2 new 320 gpm chilled water pumps and corresponding chilled water piping in new Chiller Yard on grade. Provide new air separator, expansion tank, pot feeder, and buffer tank in existing Mechanical Room on roof. Provide new 6" diameter chilled water supply and return piping from new Chiller Yard, up wall, across roof, to the existing Mechanical and Air Handler Rooms on the roof. Provide new chilled water motorized valves, flow meter, BTU meter, and replace Allerton EMS front-end with Loytec Linx. Integrate the existing Alerton Controls to the new Loytec LWEB-900 Controls. Provide new front-end graphics to include all the new/existing equipment. Provide new control panel located in the new Chiller Yard with new Distech 650 Central Plant Controller (with scroll wheel). Provide new Loytec EMS Controls, controllers, wiring, conduit (minimum 3/4" diameter), and programming to control the new air-cooled chillers, pumps, and controls valves. Provide commissioning to ensure proper operation of the new equipment and controls. Connect to existing roof drain piping with new 8" diameter CPVC pipe extending below the new slab and daylight into the existing trench.
