Following a catastrophic fire in late June of 2020, the Salt Lake Community College (Redwood Road Campus) Applied Technology Building (ATC) has undergone an extensive post-fire Teir 1 structural analysis. In so doing, it has been determined that selective demolition, structural shoring and hazardous material abatement activities (project duration Jan. 4, 2021 thru Jun 1, 2021) may help to preserve a significant portion of the buildings current structure. These stabilization efforts currently underway represent an initial phase of the ATC project and are outside of this solicitations scope of work. It is expected that this preservation effort will in turn reduce associated costs with the facility reconstruction that is the basis for this request. It is the intention of this solicitation to request proposals for CM/GC services. Because of the nature of this project and the fact that we will be working with the insurance company to determine what is covered, we will need additional services in the pre-construction phase for cost estimating of multiple options and constructability. The building at the time of the fire was being remodeled and the roof was being replaced. The insurance claim will bring the building back to the pre-fire condition. That is where we will need additional help in estimating to determine the funding responsibilities. The design Consultant for the project has been awarded to GSBS Architects. Original building as-built drawings and geotech reports are available, as well as any post-fire analysis work conducted to date.
