Renovation of a municipal facility in Aurora, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The North Campus Well Field Electrical Phase II Project is for the construction of seventeen (17) upgraded electrical panels that are used to power and control well pumps in the City's North Campus Riverbank Filtration Site (RBF). The new panels eliminate electrical safety concerns identified in the most recent arc flash study that concluded the power supply and controls have inadequate separation between the 480-volt power supply and the controls system, leaving staff exposed to potential arc flash events. The original design was adequate for the applicable electrical code at the time; however, the design requires third party services to open the panels and de-energize equipment safety. This improved design will allow operations to self-perform maintenance and troubleshooting efforts and decrease the time a well remains out of service. This project addresses proper separation of the power supply from the controls cabinet and provides a safe working environment for Aurora Water staff.
