Site work, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Indio, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility; for the construction of a transportation facility; and for the renovation of a transportation facility.
Plans call for a new passenger rail line connecting the Coachella Valley and Los Angeles. Project is to include 144 miles of existing track between Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley. Plans also include the construction of up to five new stations within Riverside County, joining an existing stop in Palm Springs. New stations to be located at or near: the Loma Linda/Redlands area; the communities of Beaumont, Banning, and Cabazon; near Cathedral City, Thousand Palms, Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Desert; and the City of Indio; the City of Coachella. As of February 3 2026, an engineering firm has been selected to conduct an environmental study for the project. The rail service project will likely exceed $1.5 billion and service could begin by 2040 depending on funding, final design and construction. *Project information, including timeline and contacts, has been obtained through public sources.
