Ensure proper operation of all meter service line valves for emergency isolation.
Prevent dangerous confined space issues.
Ensure the safety of personnel performing work in meter vaults i.e. testing and maintenance of meters.
Upgrading of identified aging infrastructure.
Replace the existing water meter service line appurtenances in meter vaults (i.e. valves, tees, elbows, ductile iron pipe, check valve, coupler and damaged or undersized vaults).
In the case of irrigation meter vaults, they will not include meter by-pass plumbing, but will include outside vault downstream valve and then a "T" or saddle to provide seasonal drainage of irrigation line.
Replace vault tops that will accommodate composite rings and covers.
Additionally, if the vault is to be replaced, or excavation will be done to replace a vault top or to install a downstream valve and "T" or saddle to provide drainage, extensive preparation will include; securing utility locates, submission of a traffic plan (if applicable), vault excavation within applicable safety guidelines including shoring and confined space safety guidelines, and post backfill area remediation.
