Site work, outdoor lighting and new construction of a mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. Design plans call civil work for a municipal facility and transportation facility.
Construction of a new 15-kilometre LRT would run from Kennedy station on the TTC Line 2 to the Malvern Town Centre via U of T Scarborough. Along with the Scarborough subway extension, the LRT is intended to form a new higher-order transit network in the historically underserved east end of Toronto. TIMELINE: The consultant has been awarded to complete the Transit Project Assessment (TPAP) Environmental Assessment and 10 percent Functional Design for the Eglinton East LRT. The scope of work includes relevant technical and environmental study and impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and other documentation in accordance with Ontario Regulations in order for the City of Toronto to obtain a Notice to Proceed for the Eglinton East LRT (EELRT) from the Minister of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP). A secondary purpose is to confirm the EELRT core network and Maintenance & Storage Facility (MSF) up to a consistent functional 10% level of design. Funding is available in the 2021 Approved Capital Budget and 2022-2030 Approved Capital Plan for the Transit Expansion Office. Public Information Centers were held May 30, June 1 and June 7, 2023, as part of the Phase One consultation, preparing for the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) Environmental Project Report (EPR). Public comment can be submitted prior to June 21, 2023. Phase Two consultation will proceed through 2023, is to gather feedback from the public as part of the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) and Environmental Project Report (EPR) required by the province. A second round of public meetings are planned as part of Phase Two consultation, expected in late 2023. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
