Demolition, site work, new construction, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Clarkston, Georgia. Design plans call for the construction of a 6,000-square-foot educational facility; 200-square-foot educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; educational facility; for the addition of a 240-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and for the renovation of a educational facility.

As of October 5, 2021, an architect has been selected for the project. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to late 2022. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission (GSFIC), as "Owner", on behalf the Department of Education ("Using Agency" or ''SBE''), and the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf, (''AASD'') is seeking Statements of Qualifications from firms interested in providing design professional services for a project known as Project No.SBE-049 AASD Transition Building and Georgia Pines Renovation, at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf in Clarkston, Georgia. This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeks to identify the most qualified potential providers of the above-mentioned services. Some firms which respond to this RFQ, and who are determined by the Owner to be especially qualified, may be deemed eligible and may be invited to offer proposals for these services. All respondents to this RFQ are subject to instructions communicated in this document and additional terms and conditions listed in the Owner's Request for Proposals (RFP). Interested firms should continue to check this site for project updates. Transition Building The Transition Building will be comprised of four apartments of equal size, each containing four bedrooms with closets, two bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a bathtub), two bathroom sinks and counters, a kitchen with a small dining area, a washer/dryer, a living room, an individual HVAC unit and an individual water heater. The building will be approximately 6,000 GSF. The construction type will match the existing adjacent building of a concrete slab, concrete masonry units with a brick façade and steel joists supporting a low slope roof system. The design is to be ADA accessible and meet all current codes, rules and regulations of the State of Georgia. The building needs to be a conditioned space with a new HVAC unit and insulated walls and roof. Georgia Pines The school wishes to enclose the entrance of Georgia Pines and construct a 240 GSF addition to capture additional office space. Other than the restrooms, there will be minimal modification to the existing space. The new addition will include a new structural frame and exterior walls, entrance, roof, new interior office cubicles. The work will include modifications to the existing HVAC, Electrical and plumbing as required. Renovations will include demolition of existing finishes including, flooring, paint, ceilings, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work. There are two restrooms that will need to be modified and expanded to meet ADA requirements. The design is to be ADA accessible and meet all current codes, rules and regulations of the State of Georgia. In addition, a new 200 GSF storage building will need to be built. The storage building construction will be a concrete slab, wood framed walls with a sloped roof with asphalt shingles. Construction is scheduled to start by the fourth quarter of 2022. (Dates indicated in this section are estimates and as such are subject to change). The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
