Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Corpus Christi, Texas. Completed plans call for the demolition of a military facility; for the construction of a 163,025-square-foot, two-story above grade military facility; and for site work for a military facility.
The project is for reconstruction of the two-level command suite and administrative office area at the south end of warehouse Building DDCT-01846 due to extensive water damage to finishes and systems including the provision of temporary facilities (temporary trailers) to support displaced DDCT personnel during the period of construction. In response to review comments by the NAS Corpus Christi Fire Protection AHJ, planned fire protection system repairs and upgrades for Building DDCT-01846 are included in the scope of the project. The goal of this design is to improve the functionally and serviceability of the office area, as well as address life safety and code deficiencies with the fire protection systems. Modifications to the existing two-level office layout are needed to meet current and future mission requirements. Due to the extensive renovation required to address Hurricane Harvey storm damage, reconfiguration of the two-level office space is included in the scope of work for this project, as well as several non-compliant code issues that were identified as part of the facility condition assessment. The scope of work generally includes the selected abatement of asbestos-containing materials; reconfiguration of interior spaces; upgrading electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, security, fire suppression and alarm systems; providing code-required occupancy separation between the office area and warehouse; rebuilding the west stair for code compliance ; replacement of warehouse mechanical units and support platforms, and construction of a fire pump room building addition; and office swing space during construction provided in temporary trailers. Interior spaces include open offices areas; private offices; a break room and shelter-in-place; conference rooms; a classroom; a command suite; restrooms; and related support spaces. The existing fire suppression systems, fire alarm and mass notification systems in the warehouse shall be completely demolished and replaced with new. The project magnitude is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000; and contains a period of performance of 480 calendar days. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
