Site work and renovation of an educational facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 235,350-square-foot, five-story above grade educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
*As of January 11, 2022, a construction manager has been awarded. Construction Management Services for renovation and site improvements at Innovation Central High School and Grand Rapids Montessori Elementary, which share the same site. Innovation Central High School, located at 421 Fountain St. NE, Grand Rapids, was originally constructed in 1910. Additions were added in 1927, 1931 and, most recently, in 1982. There are approximately 650 students at the High School studying a range of academic programming consisting of Health Sciences and Technology (200), Business, Leadership & Entrepreneurship (165), Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (90), Design and Construction (165) and Teaching and Learning (18). The overall square footage of the five-level building is currently 235,350 SF. The Building is registered asa Michigan Historic Site and sits on 5.11 acres of land bordered by Heritage Hill historic district. The projected construction (hard) cost for the high school work is estimated at $20,000,000. Constructed in 1918, this three-level elementary school is 35,425 SF and sits on 1.92 acres adjacent to the high school. The projected construction (hard) costs for the elementary schools is estimated at $1,400,000. This Request for Proposal (RFP) does not commit GRPS to award a contract or to undertake any financial obligation whatsoever with respect to the requirement referred to herein. Owner reserves the right to reject any Proposal with or without cause, to negotiate with any firm it has selected as qualified, to not award a contract, or to award one or more contracts. Owner further reserves the right to waive any irregularity or informality in this RFP Process or any Proposal, and the right to award the Contract to any other than the Firm(s) submitting the best financial Proposal (lowest proposed Firm). Owner reserves the right to accept or reject, without consideration, any Proposal which arrives late. Owner reserves the right to request additional information from any or all Firms. In addition, notice is hereby given of the possibility that award may be made without discussion of the Proposal. In the event Firm's Proposal is accepted by Owner and Firm asserts exceptions, special considerations or conditions after acceptance, Owner, in its sole and absolute discretion, reserves the right to thereafter reject the Proposal and award another Firm. Therefore, the Firms should submit their best Proposal initially from both technical and cost standpoints.
