NAO-2020-00592 From I-81 south take exit 118 towards Route 11 east. Turn left onto 11 east. In approximately 1/4 mile arrive at Tower road intersection. This project proposes the relocation of sanitary sewer lines from a highly eroded ephemeral stream channel to the banks of the channel. The relocation of the sanitary sewer and manholes is necessary as they have deteriorated from the high flow of water during storm events. In addition, the high flow of storm water has highly eroded the stream channel, the project proposes installation of Flexamat to line the channel to help with erosion control. Without intervention it is likely that the stream will erode more and again reveal utility lines located under and on the banks of it. Intersection improvements to Tower Road include the addition of curb, gutter, and median for safety purposes. The alternative to this project would be to leave the deteriorating manholes and exposed sewer lines as is and allow for the continuation of erosion in the channel but allowing for the additional intersection improvements to occur as this work does not affect the stream channel.
