Site preparation and construction of a new 2-story, 145,850 sf school building on the site of and adjacent to the existing operating South Middle School, including site development, parking facilities, and recreation field. The work is estimated to cost $72,331,417 (including all alternates). Phase 1A - October 12, 2021 - April 22, 2022 Major Construction Components: o Construction of a new temporary construction access road from Peach Street to the proposed new building foundation area. o Relocate rapid flashing beacon equipment, crosswalk and add a sidewalk ramp at Peach St. o Relocate an existing hydrant on Peach St. o Construct a temporary sidewalk with concrete barrier protection at the west side of the existing bus loop and transition temporary sidewalk into the existing sidewalk and plaza at the existing building main entry. o Construction of utilities from connection points at Kenmore Rd to the proposed new building, construction of utilities from connection points on Peach Street and Celia Rd that must pass through the existing occupied school area, construction of electrical and tele-comm duct bank(s), and construction of infiltration system #1 including top cover and asphalt binder for infiltration system #1 and including parking areas to connect to Kenmore Rd. Phase 1B - April 22, 2022 - May 31, 2023 Major Construction Components: o Construction of new building including completion of Certificate of substantial completion and Certificate of Occupancy unrestricted. o Construction of all site work, utilities, and site improvements within the Phase 1 construction area. Phase 2 - June 16, 2023 - August 18, 2021 Major Construction Components: o Removal/demolition of (2) classroom modular units including all foundations, modular unit assemblies, and exterior stairs or ramps connected to the modular classroom units, removal and proper termination of all utilities connected to the modular classroom units and make safe and weather tight the existing school building at the existing connection points to the modular classroom units. o Construction of all site work and site improvements within the areas of the existing school occupied areas, including but not limited to grading and landscape to tie new playing/recreation field, sidewalks, and landscape to existing to remain landscape and sidewalks, re-paving the existing east parking lot, new school driveway from Peach St. to the parent drop off/pick up zone, repairs/reconstruction of the existing school bus loop and associated sidewalks, relocation of the rapid flashing beacon device, cross walk, and sidewalk ramp at Peach St., relocation of a fire hydrant at Peach St., removal of the construction access road from Peach St. to the construction site, and all site work and site improvements related to the above described scope of work.
