The University has determined that bidders who submit bids on this project must be prequalified. Prequalified bidders will be required to have the following California contractor's license: General Building Contractor - B Provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services for the renovation of approximately 7,300 square feet of the southern portion of the Medical Sciences 1B (Carlson Health Sciences Library), originally constructed in 1974. The project will provide space for small animal operating rooms, radiology room, animal holding spaces, exam and treatment spaces, office space and support spaces including mechanical, storage, restrooms, and locker rooms. The work will include seismic upgrades, new interior partitions, new exterior and interior doors and windows, new ceiling systems. The new spaces will be served by a new roof mounted AHU unit, chilled and hot water pumps, VAVs, fan coil units, steam to hot water heat exchanger. The successful bidder/contractor will be required to phase the construction in such a way that keeps activities of the adjacent Carlson Library portion of the building operational. Another important constraint on the project is the limited laydown space directly adjacent to the construction. Careful planning of activities will be key to the project's success.
