The County of San Diego (County) is requesting proposals from Design-Build Entities (D-BE) qualified to design and construct the County Animal Shelter (the "Project"). The project will be located on a 4-acre portion of County-owned Parcel 7 at approximately 452 Riverview Pkwy, Santee, CA 92071 (APN 381-050-69). The successful D-BE shall design and construct the Project within a Guaranteed Maximum Price ("GMP") of up to $18,500,000. The GMP shall include all costs necessary for the D-BE to provide the County with a complete and usable facility. Such costs include, but are not limited to, design, permitting, demolition, construction, installation, utility infrastructure/connections, and all required street improvements. The new County Animal Shelter (Project) will be one-story approximately 24,000 square feet facility with all required landscape, utilities, parking and street improvements. It is sited on a 4-acre portion of Parcel 7 of the County-owned Edgemoor property north of Riverview Parkway and west of Magnolia Avenue (APN 381-050-69). The new buildings and associated kennels, outdoor livestock area, and site amenities will provide a more efficient facility to better serve its customers and a safer environment for department staff, the animals, and the public. It will provide the Department of Animal Services (DAS) with a state-of-the-art facility for the next 50 years. It will also be used for animal intake during local disaster events. DAS provides animal-related law enforcement, sheltering, medical, emergency response, and pet adoption services to the unincorporated areas of San Diego County.
