Renovation of a military facility in Madison, Wisconsin. Working plans call for the renovation of a 58,000-square-foot military facility.

The bids that were accepted in November 2021 have been rejected and this project will be rebid at a later date. As of March 30, 2022, a timeline for rebidding of this project has not yet been established. This project is being let using a new single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders In general, the work consists of Directional drilling a new 10 inch water service to the building, installing sprinkler and high-expansion foam fire suppression systems in an approximate 58,000 square foot aircraft hangar building. Other work involved will include installation of of fire pumps, construction of a fire suppression equipment room within the existing building mechanical space, upgrading the existing fire alarm system, installing a new building service served by a new transformer and adding supplementary structural steel framing to support the new fire suppression systems. Part of the work of this project will need to be coordinated with the work of a separate project that will construct two small additions for hangar doors concurrent with the work of this project.
