Stellos Stadium was built circa 2002 with an artificial rectangular field for youth sports. It is primarily used by Nashua's two public high schools and Bishop Guertin HS, but is also used for other community youth sports. The artificial turf was replaced once, in 2112, and is now at the end of its service life. There are drainage issues in several areas of the field and the most recent GMAX testing (a measure of surface hardness) yielded very poor results. In addition some minor renovations are required such as window & door replacements for the press box, installation of crowd control gates as recommended by NFR, new netting poles and nets behind the goal posts, painting of the main concourse, replacement of landscaping and addition of fencing. I've indicated bonding as the preferred method of funding for the entire amount. However approximately $263,000 exists in a capital reserve fund earmarked for Stellos Stadium, which could be used to defray some of the bonded costs. As of October 11, 2024, this project is included in the City of Nashua's FY 2024 CIP. Further information regarding a design firm and timeline for construction has not yet been determined. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
