Site work, asbestos abatement and renovation of a mixed-use development in Parker Dam, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a pre-engineered storage facility; for site work for a water / sewer project; for asbestos abatement for a pre-engineered storage facility; and water / sewer project.
This project will replace the domestic water treatment systems at five pumping plants including temporary treatment systems, installation of permanent Metropolitan-furnished membrane filtration units, Contractor-furnished granular activated carbon vessels, sodium hypochlorite tank, disinfection equipment, water quality monitoring instrumentation, temperature-controlled pre-engineered metal buildings, fire water systems, abatement of materials containing lead, asbestos, and universal waste, and other appurtenant work as specified and shown on the drawings. Metropolitan expects the total cost of construction to range between $17,000,000 and $21,000,000. This estimate is intended to serve merely as a guideline of the magnitude of work. Neither the bidders nor the Contractor shall be entitled to claims because of any inaccuracy in the estimated cost range. At the turnoff for Parker Dam, stay to the left on MWD Road. Approximately 1-1/2 miles up MWD Road, turn left at the "MWD" sign to enter Gene Pumping Plant facilities. If additional directions are required, bidders may call the Desert Operations Control Center (DOCC) at telephone number (760) 663-4911. Attendance at the pre-bid conference is a condition precedent to submittal of a bid, and Metropolitan will not consider a bid from any bidder not represented at the pre-bid conference. Immediately following the pre-bid conference, a tour of the project will be given. The attendees shall be responsible for driving their own vehicles. The tour is expected to end at the end of the day at approximately 5:00 pm at Hinds Pumping Plant. Lunch will be provided for attendees of the tour. Attendees must wear construction attire during the tour. All personnel attending the pre-bid conference shall possess a valid government-issued photo identification card and shall not pose a security risk to Metropolitan. Any vehicle entering a Metropolitan facility is subject to search and visual inspection. Attendance at the pre-bid conference by subcontractors is not required. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check, or a surety bond as a guarantee that the bidder will execute the proposed contract if awarded. The successful bidder shall furnish a performance bond and a labor and material payment bond, in accordance with the contract documents. The bidder shall have a California contractor license, classification "A" at the time of submitting the bid. The entity performing fire water system work shall have a California contractor license, classification "C-16.". In addition, the entity performing asbestos abatement shall be either the prime contractor with a California Contractors State License Board issued ASB certification or a subcontractor with a C-22 license. A subcontractor having a different "C" license may perform abatement work if it possesses an ASB certification and the abatement work is associated with said "C" license. The bidder shall complete all information required in Document 00420, and include the entity on Document 00430, Subcontractor List, if the work is to be performed by a subcontractor and the amount is more than 1/2 of 1 percent of the total bid price *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
