Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Reading, Pennsylvania. Working plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

As of January 5, 2022 the project has been withdrawn from bidding and never awarded. There are plans to rebid in the Spring of 2022. The County of Berks is accepting sealed bids from qualified vendors for Gring's Mill Ramp Improvements Project. Each bid must be accompanied by bid security in the amount and form specified in the Invitation to Bid (ITB) package. The County reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any part thereof and/or waive any informality in any bid received when such action is in the best interest of the County. The Work included in this Contract consists of furnishing all plant, new materials, equipment, supplies, labor, transportation, fuel and power and performing all Work as required by the Contract, in strict accordance with the Specifications, Schedules and Drawings, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Publication 408 specifications, latest edition, all of which are made a part hereof; and including such detail Drawings as may be furnished by the ENGINEER from time to time during the construction in interpretation of said Drawings. PennDOT Publication 408 shall be adhered to regarding construction methods and materials. Contract administration and measurement and payment basis shall be as specified in these Contract Documents. The Work shall be complete and all Work, materials, and services not expressly called for in the Specifications, or specially indicated on the Drawings, which may be necessary for complete and proper construction to carry out the Contract in good faith, shall be performed, furnished and installed by the CONTRACTOR at no additional cost to the OWNER. The Work shall be executed in the best and most workmanlike manner by qualified, careful and experienced workers. A. Erosion Control 1. Furnish, install, and maintain all temporary erosion and sedimentation control measures and temporary construction fencing as indicated for the duration of the project. This includes but is not limited to the installation and maintenance of a rock construction entrance, compost filter sock, erosion control fabric, and seeding. At the completion of construction, all temporary erosion control measures shall be removed. Also includes final stabilization of all disturbed areas. Includes clean up and removal of any construction debris, waste, excess materials, etc. (Lump Sum) B. Infiltration Bed 1. Excavate (unclassified) Infiltration Bed area to approximate limits and depths while minimizing compaction of bed area. Properly dispose of excavated material in accordance with state and local requirements. Includes any required survey / construction stakeout. (60 CY) 2. Furnish and Install PennDOT Class 1 Geotextile Fabric in accordance with plan specifications ensuring a minimum fabric overlap of 1-ft where applicable (130 SY). 3. Furnish and Install ASSHTO #3 Clean Washed Stone in accordance with plan details. (65 TON). C. Paving 1. Furnish and Install compacted No. 2A Stone Subbase, 4" depth. (560 SY) 2. Furnish, place and compact Superpave asphalt mixture design, 19.0 mm, PG 64S-22, binder course, <0.3 million ESALS, 2.5" depth, on top of stone subbase. (560 SY) 3. Place and compact Superpave asphalt mixture design, 9.5 mm, PG 64S-22, wearing course, <0.3 million ESALS, SRL-L, 1 1/2 " depth. Includes hand compaction of rolled bituminous curbing on both faces of rolled curb. Includes tack coat on existing pavement surface and sealing all joints with PG 64S-22 sealant. (560 SY) D. Miscellaneous 1. Contractor to mobilize equipment, personnel, materials, etc. to the project site as necessary to construct the project improvements. Includes all associated travel, fuel, rental, and other associated fees and demobilization upon project completion. This item covers all start up and shut down costs, and will be paid in 2 installments: 60% on the first Application for Payment after mobilization occurs; and 40% on the last Application for Payment. (Lump Sum)
