Site work and renovation of a civil project in Frankfort, Kentucky. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

As of April 25, 2023, a design team has been identified. The City of Frankfort is soliciting for engineering firms to submit a proposal for architectural and engineering design of Mero Flood Pump Station Renewal and Mero Sanitary Pump Station Relocation (Mero Pump Stations). In January of 2021, the City of Frankfort, with assistance from GRW Engineers, Inc and its subconsultants, HMB Engineers and Wheeler EMC prepared and submitted the 2020 BRIC application. Frankfort, Kentucky was selected as a finalist for further review and has responded to two Requests for Information (RFI) from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The City expects to receive a Funding Agreement in the amount of $13.4 million dollars with Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM) and FEMA to sign and begin the project. The project goals are the following: 1. The existing Mero Flood Pump Station shall be renewed to continue to provide full flood protection from the 100 year storm event. 2. The Mero Sanitary Pump Station shall be relocated from along the Kentucky River to inside the Floodwall. The Mero Flood Pump Station has 3 pumps with a capacity of 84,000 gpm and a sanitary pump with a capacity of 6,250 gpm. The renewal will install three (3) 28,000 gallons per minute pumps and one 6,250 gpm pump. The Mero Sanitary Pump Station has three pumps with an individual capacity of 2,500 gpm, 1,800 gpm, and 900 gpm. The relocated pump station will have three (3) 2,500 gallons per minute pumps. New piping associated with the Sanitary Sewer Pump Station relocation and a new 900 L.F. of Force Main under the Kentucky River is also included in the project. A preliminary site plan submitted with the BRIC application is shown as Exhibit A. The selected firm is expected to perform an environmental and historic preservation documentation, hydrologic and hydraulic study, engineering, preparation of bid documents, construction administration and other associated tasks. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
