As work on the Union Bridge and Hull Causeway of the Chaudière Crossing is nearing completion, recent inspections and studies have shown that parts of the southern structures are in poor condition and need to be rehabilitated. The Southern Structures Renewal Project will include the replacement of the Bronson Channel Bridge, as well as the rehabilitation of the Ottawa Hydro Electric Power Commission Channel Bridge and the Buchanan Channel Culvert. This repair work will protect the structure against corrosion, ensuring proper stewardship of this engineering asset, while improving the lifespan of the bridge. Construction work on both projects is currently expected to start in 2025. ------------------------ Construction Demathieu Bard (CDB) Inc. (CDB) was selected as the Construction Manager (CM) to lead the Chaudiere Crossing Project, including the Union Bridge Rehabilitation and Hull Causeway Widening, for Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). The Prime Consultant (PC) for the design and inspection for this project is Parsons Engineering. To allow the rehabilitation and widening works of the Chaudiere Crossing, the existing steel trusses supporting the Hull Causeway superstructure require strengthening and repair. The scope of this RFP includes fabrication, delivery, removal, and installation of miscellaneous structural steel as well as localized repair of steel coatings. Proponents shall provide suitable access platforms to facilitate their work and inspections by the Prime Consultant. All structural steel shall be supplied by a CISC certified fabricator.
