Renovation of a municipal facility in Vancouver, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

To prepare the False Creek Energy Centre (FCEC) facility for construction work in anticipation of two 3.3 MW CYK heat pumps to be installed in 2022. The Work Site is located at 1890 Spyglass Place in Vancouver, BC. The facility currently has one 3 MW heat pump that recovers heat from sewage, with natural gas boilers for peaking and backup. The Work is comprised of the general scope items that include, but is not limited to: (a) Coordination of work with the NEU operators, and cooperation to achieve the earliest possible completion of the work. (b) Coordinate delivery, handling, and storage of Contractor-supplied material/equipment, including inspection and acceptance of equipment following delivery. (c) Ensure equipment conforms to the project specifications. (d) Report any visible damage or non-conformance to the Consultant immediately. Contractor will bear all delay cost implications for defective/missing material that has not been reported. (e) Contractor is to review the layout and report any conflicts to the Engineer prior to starting fabrication and installation. Note that the work is happening in an operating plant. Contractor will need to coordinate access and work area with the City. The Contractor shall inform the City in advance of any anticipated disruptions to the operation of the existing plant and work to minimize these impacts. (f) The Contractor will be the designated Prime Contractor as per WorkSafe BC rules. The Civil scope includes but is not limited to the following: (a) Demolition and disposal of existing heat pump plinths for future heat pumps. (b) Supply of new concrete plinths for future heat pumps and refrigerant recovery unit. Note that the heat pump plinth must be level such that the heat pumps sit level within 6 mm from side to side and from front to rear. (c) Installation of heat pump and refrigerant recovery unit anchors including neoprene pads for heat pumps. (d) Updated trench drain configuration. (e) Injection of existing cracks to the concrete floor slab of the Odour Control Room, HVAC Room and Dry Well Room to cracks that show signs of current/previous leakage of groundwater through the floor slab into the facility. Crack repair is to be via pressure injection as detailed in specification section 03930. Approximate length of cracks to be injected is estimated to be approximately 76 m, with the exact quantity to be confirmed following review of the existing conditions by the Engineer and specialist crack repair contractor at start of work. Contractor to return to site 12 months after initial repair work to repair any new cracks that develop (f) Coordination with City operations staff, main expansion construction contractor and heat pump supplier as required for scheduling and completion of work.
