The Project consists of the following major components: 1. Installation of CSX Crossing Number 1, 24-inch diameter steel casing by jack and bore, 191 LF. 2. Installation of CSX Crossing Number 2, 24-inch diameter steel casing by jack and bore, 97 LF. 3. Abandonment of existing CSX 12-inch force main crossing by grouting, two (2) existing crossings. 4. 2,305 LF of unclassified trench excavation and backfill, 0-10 feet in depth. 5. 721 feet of 12-inch PVC AWWA C900 DR-18 Restrained joint sewer force main. 6. 1,853 LF of 12-inch PVC AWWA C900 DR-18 Unrestrained sewer force main. 7. Installation of five (5) combination air release valve assemblies and manholes. 8. Installation of one (1) 12" inside drop in discharge manhole. 9. Installation of 6,500 pounds of epoxy lined ductile iron restrained joint fittings. 10. Installation of three (3) 12-inch eccentric plug valves. 11. Approximately 8,200 linear feet of saw cutting pavement. 12. Approximately 2,940 SY of asphalt pavement restoration. 13. Adjustment of approximately 5 sewer laterals. 14. 10 linear feet of 24-inch steel casing by open-cut. 15. Cut/Plug of existing 12" sewer force main. 16. The OWNER will only accept Proposals from contractors duly licensed by the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors as required by applicable Alabama law, including without limitation Ala. Code 34-8-1, et seq., BIDDERS' Alabama General Contractor License Number shall appear on the outside of the envelope containing such bid prior to opening. In the event the BIDDER fails to achieve Substantial Completion of the work within 180 Consecutive Calendar Days (or other such time period as may be agreed upon in writing by the parties following award of the additive alternate portion of the Contract) from the start date specified in the OWNER's Notice to Proceed, liquidated damages shall be paid to the OWNER at the rate of $500.00 PER DAY plus any monies paid by the OWNER for engineering, legal and resident observation services, and any fines and all expenses associated with such delays until Substantial Completion is achieved. The BIDDER agrees that $500.00 per day represents a reasonable pre-breach estimate for damages caused by the BIDDER's delay. BIDDER further acknowledges that the payment for the aforementioned daily amount of damages is reasonable and compensates the OWNER for damages that are impossible to accurately estimate. The BIDDER does not consider the payment of damages hereunder to be a penalty, and the BIDDER hereby waives any claim or defense that payment of damages hereunder is a penalty, or in the nature of a penalty against the BIDDER.
