Renovation of an educational facility in Davis, California. Design plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Per the owner, as of December 8, 2022, an award has been made for this solicitation. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2024. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. ……………….. For consideration to provide engineering design services for the Electrical Switch Station S3 project. The contract time is between one and three years. Estimated construction cost is approximately $12 to $16 million. NOTE: Interviews are scheduled to be held mid-January 2022. The purpose of this project is to improve resiliency, reliability and safety for Core Campus and Mondavi District medium voltage electrical distribution system. The core UC Davis campus, with a significant amount of teaching and research and development, is currently being fed by five (5) 12.74 kV underground feeders from the campus main substation, as an N+1 configuration A new metal-clad, exterior walk-in, arc flash resistant, 2000A, 15kV double-ended switch station to provide eight (8) 1200A feeder breakers on each side. New bulk feeders to run from the main substation in existing duct banks to the new on-campus switch station location. The existing feeders to be reconfigured so that a dedicated backup feeder is provided for each normal feeder, from the new switch station. This will require installing new duct-banks, re-routing existing cables, and pulling new cables. Overcurrent, differential, and arc flash protection shall be provided for the switch station and the outgoing feeders, using SEL digital protection relays. Automatic transfer scheme, HMI and power metering to be provided for the new switch station and to be connected to the existing campus SCADA system. Depending on the budget, the project may be constructed in phases and may include additional medium voltage distribution equipment including interrupter replacements. The University is seeking a design team to form a creative partnership to produce facilities responsive to the University's needs while meeting a stringent budget and schedule. The design team will produce a set of Preliminary Drawings and Outline Specifications. The design team shall include an electrical engineer as prime consultant with subconsultants for civil engineering, structural engineering and cost estimating. Relevant qualifications shall include proven experience in designing medium-voltage switch station and distribution improvements for public works, university, or corporate campus facilities. Firms will be required to have an active State of California's Professional Electrical Engineering license. for a minimum of five years. The key attributes that the University is seeking are firms who can respond in a timely manner and assign staff with the technical expertise along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
