The purpose of this RFP is to obtain proposals from qualified contractors for the replacement of the existing arena’s evaporative condenser as further described in this RFP. The arena evaporative condenser serves 2 – 85’ x 200’ ice surfaces as well as a small 33’ x 85’ leisure ice surface. The existing evaporative condenser (Evapco LRC-32, detailed info attached) is currently functional but is ageing. The system typically runs 11 months of the year for ice generation however the system may be required to run all year round. The current plant tonnage is estimated to be between 180 and 210 tonnes and the compressor discharge during normal operations is 130 – 180 psi. The TLC is looking to replace the evaporative condenser with an adiabatic condenser that will maintain existing operation levels. The goal of this project is to ensure the new unit is energy efficient, safe to operate, and demonstrates environmental advantages. When selecting the potential unit, proponents must also consider noise levels and blast radius requirements, as there are residential properties located within 100 feet of the facility.
